“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. From [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” (Ephesians 4:11-12, 16)

Sharing Your Faith

Personal Ministries is a facet of the church whose origin can be traced to the beginning of Seventh-day Adventist® history in the 1860s.  They endeavor to inspire, motivate, equip, train, and mobilize all members for dynamic Christian service with the conviction that “The church of Christ is organized for service” (Ministry of Healing, p. 148) and “Every son and daughter of God is called to be a missionary; we are called to the service of God and our fellow men” (The Ministry of Healing, p. 395)—in other words, to share your faith!

Working with members, and ministry leaders, Personal Ministries goal is to equip you to live out your faith meaningfully and effectively on a personal level, and also to employ your gifts and talents to reach the community at the ministry level.  Ideally, a participant would attend an equipping class, then reengage in his or her community better prepared. Each class will not only challenge the mind, but also aims at transforming the heart. Our goal is not to create smarter sinners, but to equip the saints to engage in their world with truth and grace.

The Personal Ministries activities will cover these, and other, areas:

  1. Believers Orientation
  2. Friendship visitation
  3. Community Services survey
  4. Bible Studies
  5. Spiritual Gifts discovery and placement
  6. Literature distribution
  7. Welfare approach
  8. Temperance approach. This could include Stop Smoking plans, etc.
  9. Health approach. This could include health screenings, cooking classes, and health literature.
  10. Lending library for books or cassettes. Lend cassettes or books to interested persons in conjunction with weekly visits.
