“All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 MSG)
While redemption and restoration can only be accomplished through the atoning work of Christ, the work of caring for souls in our communities is accomplished through the Holy Spirit’s gifting and directing believers in relationships with one another. Capitol Hill’s Spiritual Care ministry mission is simple: it is a ministry that prayerfully connects “people who want to help…with people who need help.” The methods we use to “care” are varied. They range from helping to meet physical and financial needs, to being “present” with others in walking alongside them as they wrestle with their emotional and spiritual needs. Our Spiritual Care ministers believe that the Holy Spirit is the author of all change, growth, and the primary instrument of healing in all souls. We as Spiritual Care ministers are so privileged to join His work already in progress of another. Spiritual Care ministers also believe that our greatest resource of “care” is faithful, fervent, and frequent prayer.
